East Cape Rock Fishing
Kia ora, my name is Jim Kemp and I have lived, farmed and fished around Cape Runaway, on the East Cape all my life.
Cape Runaway lies at the most eastern corner of the Bay of Plenty. Steep hills slope down to a rocky coastline providing some of the best landbased rock fishing in New Zealand.
This isolated and beautiful area, close to Lottin Point is world renowned for is large Yellowtail Kingfish - the world record on fly was caught here - 10kg tippet.
Fishing is based around a berley trail, live baits and teasers to bring the fish into the rocks. The sight of a large Kingfish taking a bait almost at your feet is one of the biggest thrills in fishing - hang on!
My skills, and local knowledge, could help you to a unique and exciting fishing experience.
